The Allegations 

  • In December 2006, customers felt they were given false and misleading information by Douglas Havel regarding the consequences of transferring their variable annuity to an indexed annuity.
  • In February 2009, a customer alleged that Douglas Havel failed to adequately disclose fees.
  • In October 2018, a customer alleged that Douglas Havel made material misrepresentations concerning the rate of return of his variable annuity. This case was settled for $34,234 in damages.
  • In December 2018, a customer alleged Douglas Havel invested him in C-share mutual funds, even though A-shares would have been more beneficial. This case was settled for $5,838 in damages.
